Due to a recent malware attack on the Seattle Public Library, I recently lost access to my elaborate to-be-read system. Composed of an obsessively researched combination of physical books, digital books and audiobooks with wait times varied enough to ensure I would have at least two types of books *at all times*
a malware attack on the library!!! seems like the worst thing in the world???? but the way i am *bookmarking* this, you are doing the lord's work maggie!
Thank you so much for this excellent list!! I love how you make your groupings, too. I've read a bunch of these already and can absolutely co-sign your recommendations.
A couple contributions I've recently read and would love to offer up—
–> for "Moody, Broody Summer": _Grief is for People_ by Sloane Crosley
—> for "Searing Social Commentary": _Piglet_ by Lottie Hazell
this list is ::chefs kiss:: - I have The Nix and This Time Tomorrow on my summer TBR too, plus 10 others on my general state of life TBR! I just started The God of the Woods and its addicting already, all I can think about at work is getting home to read it...
Since you love dark/weird/thought provoking (me too!) I’d recommend checking out Hurricane Girl by Marcy Dermansky (or really any of her books) if you haven’t already!
Yes! I started it last year right after my son was born and DNF'd because I kept falling asleep haha. I'll take a second look because I enjoyed the beginning - thanks for the reminder!

Immediately bookmarked this post - just great! After reading your blurbs I want to read every single one of these books
Julia thank you so much!!!! 😭 I worked so hard to make the blurbs “match” to make the summaries easy to digest!!!!
You could do this for a living haha!
