With love, Meghan (Netflix). I’ll won’t lie to you: I’m rooting for Meghan and Harry. It brings me a lot of joy and satisfaction to see them doing their best to break generational curses and live out their peaceful, sun drenched lives in Montecito. Meghan’s return to lifestyle influencing is a breath of fresh air – I appreciate how genuinely she seems to enjoy hosting and the thoughtful way she curates experiences for her friends, and immediately opened up What Meghan Wore to get the outfit details. I found the show pleasant and engaging —
’s excellent review says it best: if you can’t make your own joy, store bought is fine.Mainstay Everyday Oil: I think I shared this product in the early early days of the newsletter, but she’s making a reappearance because it’s just that good. It does pretty much anything: I use it as part of my double cleanse routine to dissolve makeup and make gua sha glide easily, and slather it on post-shower to lock in moisture. With sustainably harvested palo santo, lavender, geranium and clary sage, it’s not only effective it smells amazing. A small, but perfect, luxury.
The Three Lives of Cate Kay, by Kate Fagan. A secretive best selling author writes under a pseudonym and desperately avoids the fame of her literary success to protect long buried secrets. The novel reads as a fictional memoir of the author finally choosing to come clean and tell her own story. It’s quick and despite a bit of a slow start, such a fun and interesting read.
Hello hello, and welcome to another Coffee with Maggie audio post.
I have a fresh cup of coffee, the toddler is napping, and we have officially upgraded our sound system, so I'm hoping this will make for a great evolution from our last episode!
As always, I’m hoping that this type of post feels a lot more like us sitting down to dish the dirt over coffee – talk a little more candidly about what’s really going on. Which means today I’m taking more of a conversational take on my recent announcement that I’m going for earlybird full time – plus some of your recent and related questions:
How I’m feeling about it all
What decision making looked like (finances, etc)
What day to day looks like now
My perspective on travel planning
How I made friends as an adult (and what being a “good” friend means to me now)
Tips for making milestones and events special as a long distance friend
A trick my therapist taught me that *still* helps me to be kinder to myself
And a whole bunch more!
These are some of my favorite posts to put together – they just feel so much more comfortable and casual than an edited, structured personal essay! So, grab your cup of coffee, head out for a walk, cook some dinner, hit the road for your commute and smash that play button.
Xx,
